Indigenous paradises: Socially Responsible indigenous tourism

We know that, after the effects of mass tourism, it inevitably led to a deterioration of the environment of the communities that have material or immaterial resources; This fact motivated scholars to pronounce themselves through academic critiques of the mass model. It is in this context that have emerged in our country programs such as “magical towns of Mexico ” and until not long ago the brand “Indians ” that paradises please the incorporation of the community and a natural and built environmental care. So to begin I raise the following:

The answer is yes. This is possible in our country since the year 2015 was promoted the brand “paradises indigenous ” by the Federal Tourism secretariat.

“Indigenous paradises ” Groups the sites with high cultural, natural and historical value under the shelter of Communities with an organization scheme based on uses and customs and that seek to transmit their ancestral heritage and knowledge.

“Indigenous paradises ” includes extensive cross-coordination with the Ministry of Tourism, the Mexican Tourist Promotion Council, the Ministry of Environment and Natural resources and the National commission of protected Natural areas, with which they link and Potencializan sustainable initiatives.

This stamp has as distinctive the promotion of ecotourism activities, adventure tourism and rural tourism, that is to say, all the activities are carried out within the framework of the alternative tourism. They are activities that foster the attitude and commitment in solidarity with the indigenous peoples of Mexico, while emphasizing the importance of the conservation of the environment and the cultural resources of these communities.

The National Commission for the Development of Indigenous Peoples (CDI) supports, through resources and training, the growth of local capacities of indigenous communities, but also reinforces other important issues such as administration, promotion and Social responsibility.

The brand to be formed by indigenous entrepreneurs committed to their sites and representatives of the brand, see in this way to revalorize and strengthen their natural and cultural heritage, so that the brand can transcend beyond the government proposal because Those who hold it are and will always be organized indigenous communities and peoples.

Indigenous paradises in Mexico

The tourist companies that make up the brand, must have the implementation of the official Mexican standard NOM-133-SEMARNAT-2015, which establishes the regulation of facilities and/or activities to be friendly with the environment. These companies have legal characteristics of established company, in the same way they are asked to have the distinctive M and with at least one of the following certificates/badges: Clean point, NMX 133, registration before AMTAVE, ATTA and/or Rainforest Alliance.

Currently the brand has 105 sites located in 15 States of the Republic (Baja California, Campeche, Chiapas, Mexico City, state of Mexico, Hidalgo, Michoacán, Morelos, Oaxaca, Puebla, Queretaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz and Yucatán) which can be consulted through the page, or in editions like the Special Guide of indigenous paradises distributed through the magazine unknown Mexico.
